INTERNAL QUALITY ASSURANCE CELL (IQAC)

The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), established under University Grant Commission (UGC) as an autonomous body in the year 1994, has been thriving untiringly to inculcate the spirit of enhancing the quality of education in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) through rigorous assessment and awarding with just accreditation. The processes involved in assessment are of esteem standards and are structured by accommodating the existing UGC/ICAR guidelines.

The aim of NAAC is to motivate universities to thrive and excel in their key performance areas and to establish an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), which has the mandate to establish the standards for internal quality assessment.

The Nodal agency: IQAC, is entrusted with the responsibility of assuring quality management in determining the internal assessment process through development of ingenious ideas and effective strategies for its successful implementation. With this vision P. V. Narsimha Rao Telangana Veterinary University has constituted an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) aimed at institutionalizing the process of quality internal assessment to keep track of the execution on order to achieve the determined benchmarks.

Vision

To warrant esteem quality of standard for university through rigorous process of evaluation of key performance areas with the support of internal and external resources.

Objectives

  1. To establish a centre of excellence aimed at disseminating novel technologies, educational and research innovations pertaining to field of Veterinary, Dairy and Fishery Sciences.
  2. To determine the standards and devise mechanisms for ensuring its effective implementation in accordance with set objectives.
  3. To take steps for the periodic internal academic audit of the teaching-learning and research activities of all departments and faculties.
  4. To ensure continuing education and training of all the faculties and administrative staff or enriching their skill, intellectual capital and professional
  5. To collaborate with other reputed academic institutions and agencies locally and globally for improvement of quality and brand image of the university.

 Strategies

IQAC shall evolve mechanisms and procedures for:

  1. Ensuring timely, efficient and progressive performance of academic, administrative and financial units;
  2. Adoption of relevant and quality academic and research programmes;
  3. Ensuring equitable access to and affordability of academic programmes for various sections of the society;
  4. Optimization and integration of modern methods of teaching and learning;
  5. Ensuring credible assessment and evaluation processes;
  6. Ensuring the proper allocation, adequacy and maintenance of support structure and services; and
  7. Sharing of research findings and networking with other institutions in India and abroad.

Mechanism of Quality Assurance

  1. Internal quality assurance mechanism: In accordance with the prescribed university guidelines, the university would develop its own internal quality assurance mechanism adhere to the quality assurance framework set forth in this policy and approved by IQAC, to evaluate the quality of teaching programmes, teaching and learning experience, student assessment, internal moderation, support services and research programmes and their review processes.
  2. External quality assurance mechanism: With an aim to esteem standard are maintained in the university, periodic assessment shall be made by Veterinary council of India, New Delhi and ICAR-NAEAB, NewDelhi or any other

Functions:

  1. Development and application of quality benchmarks/parameters for various academic and administrative activities of the institution
  2. Facilitating the creation of a learner-centric environment conducive to quality education and faculty maturation to adopt the required knowledge and technology for participatory teaching and learning process
  3. Arrangement for feedback response from students, parents and other stakeholders on quality-related institutional processes
  4. Dissemination of information on various quality parameters of higher education
  5. Organization of inter and intra institutional workshops, seminars on quality related themes and promotion of quality circles
  6. Documentation of the various programmes/activities leading to quality improvement
  7. Acting as a nodal agency of the Institution for coordinating quality-related activities, including adoption and dissemination of best practices
  8. Development of Quality Culture in the institution
  9. Preparation of the Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) as per guidelines and parameters of NAAC, to be submitted to NAAC.
